MADISON, WI – After a snowy reminder that winter isn’t quite finished in Wisconsin, travelers dreaming of warmer days can look forward to having more options to reach Southwest Florida. Dane County Regional Airport today announced the return of seasonal nonstop service to Fort Myers beginning this October, with expanded capacity compared to previous seasons.

Breeze Airways will launch new nonstop service between Madison and Fort Myers on October 21, operating twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays. This marks the first time Breeze has offered this route from Madison. Shortly after, Sun Country Airlines will return to Fort Myers service on October 22, operating up to four times per week during the seasonal schedule. Together, the two airlines will provide nearly a 15 percent increase in nonstop service between Madison and Fort Myers compared to last season, giving area travelers more options than ever to reach one of the country’s most popular winter destinations.

“We know reliable air service connects Dane County residents and businesses to destinations across the country,” said Melissa Agard, Dane County Executive. “Expanding seasonal service to Fort Myers strengthens those connections while supporting tourism, business travel, and our region’s growing economy.”

“After a near-record late-season snowfall in Madison this week, the timing of this announcement couldn’t be better,” said Mark Papko, Executive Director of Dane County Regional Airport. “Fort Myers is consistently one of the most popular warm-weather destinations for our community. We’re especially encouraged by Breeze Airways’ continued investment in the Madison market, and the addition of this new route reflects strong demand and growing confidence in our region. Combined with Sun Country’s returning service, this expansion means more choice and convenient nonstop travel for our passengers.”

Located along Florida’s Gulf Coast, Fort Myers is known for its pristine beaches, warm winter climate, and access to nearby destinations, such as Sanibel and Captiva islands. Tickets for the seasonal flights are available through the airlines’ websites. Travelers are encouraged to book early, as Florida routes remain among the most in-demand winter travel options from Madison.
