Lower Mud Lake Natural Resource Area Restoration Work Days

Join the Friends of Lower Mud Lake as they continue to restore oak savanna, prairie, and oak woodland. They have seen an explosion of prairie/savanna plants this summer—restoration efforts are paying off! 

Summer is in full swing, but it is time to think about late summer and fall work days at Lower Mud Lake!  Please join our dedicated crew as we continue restoration of oak savanna, prairie, and oak woods.  Activity will vary depending on what needs to be done, but may involve invasive weed removal or invasive tree and brush removal.

Sawyers and haulers will be needed as soon as oak wilt season has passed in late summer.  Sawyers should bring their own equipment and safety gear.  Fuel and chain lubricant provided.

Haulers remove downed brush and stack in piles to be burned during the winter months.  Helmets, gloves, equipment provided.  No experience needed.
